The 'Great India Run', which is going to be an annual event and is being organised this year just ahead of the Rio Olympics, is an attempt at inspiring the people of the country to get fit. To propagate this message, the run will also see a five kilometre 'Fun Run' at every pit stop (Ghaziabad, Delhi, Gurgaon, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Silvassa and Mumbai) for beginners to inspire them to take up running as a regular activity in their life.

“The aim of this endeavor is to urge our countrymen to actively focus on their fitness and well-being. Through The Great India Run we also aim to showcase what phenomenal milestones a disciplined runner can achieve,” said Gul Panag.

In an attempt to promote the culture of running in India and to motivate our athletes for the upcoming Rio Olympics, NewsX and ProSportify is organising the ‘The Great India Run'.

The first multi-city ultra marathon will see 12 elite marathoners traversing through six states, 2 Indian landmarks and cover a distance of 1,480 kms from Delhi to Mumbai in 21 days. It's going to be a world record attempt and we hope that the participant’s will break it.
